As a volunteer Tax Assistant, you will assist working families with their tax returns during the tax season. Given all the challenges with unemployement and financial difficulties from the COVID-19 Pandemic, this free service to the community is neeeded even more.
Tax Assistants will be required to complete and pass IRS tax law and tax software training and tests. Specific duties include: preparing basic 1040 tax returns and related schedules; preparing a correct and accurate return based on information provided by the taxpayer; answering related tax questions; and providing the taxpayer with a copy of the completed return. Tax Assistants are also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of taxpayer information.
Free tax law training is provided for all Volunteer Tax Assistants.
Free onsite parking and free lunch is also provided for all Volunteer Tax Assistants.
CDC Guidelines for safety protocols is being adhered to on-site (sanitizing, social distancing, use of masks etc).

Mission Statement
AHOW has been extending love to the community through the Volunteer Income Assistance Tax ministry (VITA) since 2010. AHOW is certified by the IRS as a VITA site. VITA is a free program that assists low-and moderate-income individuals and families with the preparation of their federal and state tax returns at no cost. During the past tax filing season, the AHOW VITA Ministry helped prepare over 200 tax returns with total tax refunds in excess of $100,000. Our goal as a ministry is to share God’s love by providing professional services that will help members of our community save money. These services include preparation of tax returns, and basic financial/tax counseling.
