PRC is looking for an organized individual to assist with recruiting and administering volunteers for PRC events and projects. Positive Resource Center has merged with the AIDS Emergency Fund and Baker Places to form PRC, a San Francisco-based nonprofit whose mission is to help people affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues better realize opportunities by providing integrated legal, social, and health services that address the broad range of social risk factors that impact wellness and limit potential.

The position is designed to provide real work experience that can help build a professional resume. You will have the opportunity to be a part of a great team. The ideal candidate is someone who is diligent, creative, eager to collaborate and comfortable managing multiple tasks. This is an unpaid internship, but the karma is priceless.

Description

Assist the development team in recruiting volunteers for various events and projects, including PRC managed events, third party events where PRC is a beneficiary, and other PRC and community projects. The intern selected for this position will report to the Director of Annual Giving.

Responsibilities

  1. Working with the Development Team, obtain volunteer requirements and details for all events and projects.
  2. Help compose a weekly update of volunteer opportunities and/or make phone calls/send emails as needed to recruit volunteers from PRC’s volunteer database.
  3. Coordinate volunteer communications by confirming volunteer responses and sending reminders for volunteer shifts.
  4. Create and maintain records of all volunteer information, including volunteer assignments for each event or project.
  5. Help to input and maintain PRC’s volunteer database.
  6. Working with the Director of Annual Giving, organize volunteer orientations and keep orientation materials up-to-date.
  7. Perform other tasks/projects as needed from the Development Team.

Commitment

  • 10-12 hours per week; hours are flexible and usually take place during Monday thru Friday business hours, with an occasional evening or weekend.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be able to type at least 25 WPM.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office Excel and Word.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, internet websites.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Knowledge of salesforce.com, Vertical Response and MailChimp helpful but not required.
