The Coordinator for Surrendered birds is responsible for responding, coordinating, and processing surrender requests received from parrot owners, shelters, and other rescues.
Work directly with the Executive Director to facilitate and prioritize surrenders through reviewing surrender agreements, veterinary records or medical records to establish a medical condition, pictures of the bird and their cage.
The main contact for the parrot's owner and is responsible for notification of priority and approx date of acceptance after attempts have been made to help the bird(s) stay in their home.
Work closely with other volunteers to ensure a smooth transition to PRH or PRH foster home including scheduled time on Calendly, receipt of surrendered items and the necessary documentation is completed and the bird is added to our traceability matrix.
Ensure disease testing requirements are communicated and scheduled prior to actual surrender. Proficient with Google products and mail.
This is a volunteer opportunity that requires respectful people skills, a good understanding of Georgia State Animal laws which we can provide.

Papayago Rescue House, Inc. will exist to support the well-being and maintenance of exotic birds, namely parrots, and their people families that require intervention and/or support services to thrive. Papayago Rescue House, Inc. will act in a not-for-profit manner to target parrots for rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing. To better serve the 3rd largest pet community in the world, we will work with bird owners to increase their knowledge, provide mentoring and training to coping with parrot ownership to lessen the need for parrot owners to give up their birds. The community will be better supported to maintain the birds in their care to reduce how often birds are re-homed or placed in community facilities not equipped to handle bird requirements and behavior.
