Handypersons evaluate safety of members' homes and make recommendations to homeowners; install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, bathtub and shower grab bars; repair or install porch railings and other important safety improvements. If a requested job exceeds handyperson's skill level, referrals are made to outside resources, to be retained at homeowner's expense. During this time of the COVID-19 Pandemic, safe distancing, wearing masks, and avoiding groupings of people is required.

Description
Villages are vibrant grassroots communities of older adults who age actively in their own homes. Through a nonprofit, membership-based network, members make new connections, are exposed to different perspectives and give and receive mutual support. Villages are revolutionizing aging in our country. Their network of volunteers help people age interdependently by sponsoring social and educational activities, encouraging community engagement, and assisting members with services such as transportation, minor home repairs, technology, companionship and pet care. Fear of isolation is replaced with confidence that as older adults they can look forward to active lives filled with friendship, learning, and laughter.
