** Given the latest state and national guidance, Solana Center's volunteer opportunities have been postponed until the Governor’s Executive Order to Stay-at-Home is lifted.
We will continue to monitor developments with COVID-19 and as soon as we are able to open again and reschedule events, we will make sure to announce it publicly.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Solana Center and we appreciate your support for public safety at this critical time.**
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Solana Center and we appreciate your support for public safety at this critical time.
Through education and action, Solana Center guides businesses to sustainable practices and empowers students, adults, and organizations to become environmental stewards in their communities. Our organization is built on the inspiration and dedication of passionate volunteers like you!
We hold several volunteer events to support our Food Cycle Program. The Food Cycle Program allows us to accept community members’ food scraps and process these organic materials on-site to create a high-quality soil supplement which is then returned to program members, closing the loop! Volunteers help us process incoming organic material, build compost piles, prep buckets to be returned to program members for more collection, and harvest finished compost to be shred with the community.
This activity can be quite physically intensive and a little messy! It is perfect for those that want to get VERY hands on with waste reduction!
These events take place every month on the first Wednesday, second Saturday, and third Tuesday. Check out our website for specific dates and more details!
