Great opportunity to work with youth, display leadership capabilities and make a positive impact in the lives of children who are living in poor economic communities.

Overview
The program lead will be volunteering in the classroom with 5-8th grade students at a school in an underprivileged community in Chicago.

1 day per week for 2 hours each session. From January 2019 - May 2019.

The program challenges students to identify an issue facing their community and then actively do something to combat that issue. The lead volunteer will teach the students the curriculum based on this program idea.

  • Description
    The program lead will be provided with the core curriculum/lesson plan and is responsible for teaching the students the lesson. The lead will have flexibility to make the lesson fun and engaging for students, but should ensure to meet designated outcomes.

  • Lead Volunteer will need to maintain regular communication with the schools’ administrators and Season to Soar’s Program Manager.

  • Program volunteer is responsible for completing the Post Seminar Report Form, which relays a brief outcome summary of the week’s seminar to the Season to Soar team emailed no later than 48 hrs after each weekly session.

  • Lead volunteer is responsible for any weekly set up and take down/clean up required each the lesson. Lead volunteer should be able to operate basic computer functions.

  • Lead volunteer is required to attend one field trip which may require travel off school campus.

  • Lead volunteer must have reliable transportation and most be a dependable person who intends to show up consistently every week, as the students will truly be depending on them.

  • At the end of the project lead volunteer will be evaluated by designated school staff and Season to Soar team. Lead volunteer may have the opportunity to continue with Season to Soar past the conclusion of the project.

Requirements

Completion of some higher-level coursework; 4-year degree in Education preferred
