Position: Family Justice Center Volunteer

Supervisor: Domestic Violence Services Manager, Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Family Justice Center

Purpose: The Family Justice Center is where survivors of Domestic Violence come to find services, resources, and referrals. A Family Justice Center Volunteer will provide support to both the staff of the Family Justice Center as well as the survivors and their families.

Duties:

  • Occasionally attend offsite intakes
  • Clean and organize the Nest and donation closets
  • Enter confidential client data into our database
  • Manually filing and organizing data

Requirements:

  • Participation in a 40-hr Domestic Violence training provided by the YWCA
  • 20 hours on the Domestic Violence Crisis Hotline
  • DA background check
  • Desire to provide resources to victims of domestic violence
  • Sensitivity to working with clients in crisis while maintaining boundaries
  • Ability to listen and respond to the needs of the clients
  • Ability to maintain a nonjudgmental and empowerment based approach when working with clients
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required

Commitment:

  • 4 hours per week.
