Position: Family Justice Center Volunteer
Supervisor: Domestic Violence Services Manager, Volunteer Coordinator
Location: Family Justice Center
Purpose: The Family Justice Center is where survivors of Domestic Violence come to find services, resources, and referrals. A Family Justice Center Volunteer will provide support to both the staff of the Family Justice Center as well as the survivors and their families.
Duties:
- Occasionally attend offsite intakes
- Clean and organize the Nest and donation closets
- Enter confidential client data into our database
- Manually filing and organizing data
Requirements:
- Participation in a 40-hr Domestic Violence training provided by the YWCA
- 20 hours on the Domestic Violence Crisis Hotline
- DA background check
- Desire to provide resources to victims of domestic violence
- Sensitivity to working with clients in crisis while maintaining boundaries
- Ability to listen and respond to the needs of the clients
- Ability to maintain a nonjudgmental and empowerment based approach when working with clients
- Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required
Commitment:
- 4 hours per week.
