The Food Distribution program at East Palo Alto Senior Center needs a smartphone-using Check In Volunteer to assist with volunteer management. Second Harvest's food distributions are entirely volunteer run. We have recently transitioned to a new online, electronic volunteer registration system, we need a regular Check In Volunteer who is responsible for registering and checking in volunteers.
The Check In volunteer must have a cheerful, welcoming demeanor and a willingness to welcome new volunteers. Additionally, the check in volunteer must be willing to use their smartphone to check in volunteers using Second Harvest Food Bank’s online volunteer registration system. The process only requires access to a small amount of cellular data service.
The volunteer must be willing and able to work with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, exhibit compassion and sensitivity, maintain strict confidentiality of all member and volunteer information.

Mission Statement
Lead our community to ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one.
Description
Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone. We rely upon the energy and commitment of the local community to fight hunger. See more about our efforts at www.shfb.org.
