Starting in 2019 we are looking to add a few more amazing volunteers to add to our Main Library Friends bookstore.
This is a new position! We're looking for folks who enjoy working with the public, greeting bookstore customers, acting as back up cashier, and helping shelve books. Must be patient and okay with quiet moments.
Location: Main Library, 30 Grove Street
Qualifications: Customer service or retail experience preferred but not required. A good team player and must enjoy interacting with the public
Commitment: Weekly shifts, 2-3 hours
Responsibilities: Greeting customers and engaging with the public, operating a cash register (as a backup cashier), charge and debit card through square, and stocking books.
Purpose: The Bookstore volunteers are the public face of our organization. Volunteers here interact directly with the public and provide a great service by not only selling low and accessibly priced books to all, but those sales fund many San Francisco public library programs.

Friends of the San Francisco Public Library is a member-supported nonprofit organization that advocates, fundraises, and provides critical support for the San Francisco Public Library and related literary and educational programs. We provide the community with opportunities to invest in the success of the Library as well as literary and education communities by donating funds or by donating time through volunteering. We raise money and we raise our voices to ensure a first-class public library for San Francisco.
