Are you friendly and outgoing? Do you enjoy spending time with others? Hospice of the Miami Valley is seeking friendly visitor volunteers who can spend quality time with our patients. Reading out loud, playing board games, doing puzzles, or coloring pictures are just a few examples of quality time that our patients will enjoy and appreciate.
Volunteers are an important part of the Hospice team. Friendly visitor volunteers for HOMV offer support, companionship, and practical, caring help to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. The help and support that our volunteers give is returned to them in countless ways.
This position offers flexibility in time commitment and schedule, so you can volunteer as little or as much as you like. Our Volunteer Coordinator will provide specialized training and will walk with you every step of the way. Volunteers may choose to visit patients in their homes or at public health care facilities. You will be supported in your role by a competent and caring group of nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and fellow volunteers. All supplies will be provided by Hospice.
Volunteers will report to our office in Troy. Volunteers are needed in communities within Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby counties.
