Girls on the Run of Southwest Florida is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. You can make a positive impact in the lives of girls within our community as a community coach mentor this [Spring]. Coaches commit to their role for 10 weeks, leading a group of 10-15 girls for 75-90 minute practices twice a week.
2-3 volunteer coach mentors lead their team of girls through researched based lessons provided by our council to discover and use their voice as a force for good, recognize and value their own unique gifts, celebrate the gifts of others and work as a team to use their gifts in service to their community.
The lessons utilizes physical activity games to allow the girls to better engage with the lessons. At the end of the 10 week season girls complete a community impact project as well as walk/jog/run a celebratory 5k!

Mission Statement
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Description
Girls on the Run envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
The 10 week, 20 lesson curriculum meets twice a week in small teams of 8-15 girls. We teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games.
The 20 lesson curriculum includes 3 parts:
* The first few lessons provide participants with opportunities to examine their own core values and ascertain what makes them unique, learn about their individual strengths while settin g personal goals and explore the importance of being physically and emotionally healthy.
* The second group of lessons explore getting along within a group, learn active listening and assertiveness skills, recognize the importance of managing conflict with others and examine the components of good decision-making skills.
* The last few lessons explore responsibility to the community, analyze cultural messages girls receive from the media and other institutions, define community, and their collective and individual roles in it, and to recognize the power they have to change the world in a positive way by implementing a community impact project.
