ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Wisconsin

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. We partner with volunteers to accomplish our work. Staff members engage volunteers through effective and timely communications, facilitating meaningful opportunities, and continually seeking and providing feedback for reciprocal growth and learning.

As Intern, Walk MS you will gain valuable experience learning about the planning and execution of fundraising events by working closely with the Walk MS and volunteer management team. You will assist in communicating with event participants and identify opportunities to market Chapter events and encourage event registration and fundraising. You will work with the Society's internal database and participant management systems throughout the internship to provide reporting and data management learning opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to observe staff and learn how they coordinate with sponsors, participants and donors to plan and execute successful special events. Timing of the internship will be a fixed duration contingent on the student's schedule and needs.

The applicant must have excellent customer service skills and be detail-orientated. Strong interpersonal, time management and team work skills are a must. Prior experience in fundraising, planning, organizing and managing events is helpful. Good oral and written communication skills are requested. May require attendance at special events taking place on weeknights along with weekends (Saturdays and/or Sundays).

To end the devastating affects of MS

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world.
