The Haven Home

The Haven Home is an emergency overflow shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. The shelter is a joint effort with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries but operates as its own 501C3. As a board member you will volunteering your time to help develop and grow the organization through financial support, community engagement and strategic planning. Your application will be reviewed by our board chair, after which you can meet (virtually!) to discuss the roles and responsibilities of a board member. Your application will be reviewed by our full board prior to joining. The board meets virtually every other month. The Haven Home is a faith-based organization located in the Slavic Village neighborhood.

Mission Statement

The Haven Home provides overflow shelter to women and children experiencing homelessness and awaiting a shelter bed.


The Haven Home is a collaboration with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries that provides overflow shelter to women and children experiencing homelessness. We opened in November 2017 with the goal of providing safe and comfortable emergency housing to families while they awaiting the availability of a bed at local family shelters.
