About Technovation: Technovation, a flagship program of non-profit Iridescent, is the world’s largest global tech entrepreneurship competition for girls. The program offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Every year, Technovation challenges 10 to 18-year-old girls to build a business plan and mobile app that will address a community problem. Through Technovation, girls form teams are guided by mentors to complete our free online curriculum.
Volunteer Opportunity:
Mentors are professionals who feel comfortable supporting teams of girls to participate in the program and helping their teams become leaders. They learn alongside their teams and help them problem solve, while also supervising girls through their journey
- Skills- based volunteer opportunity
- Mentors do not need to be tech professionals
- Both men and women can be mentors
Mentor training provided
More about this Role:
- Serve as project manager for the team to help the girls complete their submission deliverables
- Meet weekly with team and help guide students through Technovation's curriculum
- Offer your knowledge and expertise, but most importantly be a role model, champion, and support system for the girls

Technovation's mission is to empower girls, especially those from underrepresented communities, to develop problem solving skills, self-efficacy, and financial capacity, critical to them becoming leaders and changemakers in their communities.
Description
Our Technovation Girls program equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems.

Over the last 15 years, we’ve trained 150,000 young women to be technology entrepreneurs & innovators, empowering them to solve problems in their communities using technology.
5+ years after participating in Technovation programs, alumnae still credit the program with influencing their interests, career, and professional pursuits.
76% of Technovation alumnae pursue a STEM degree compared to 21% of female undergraduates who received STEM related degrees in 2012.
60% of Technovation alumnae work in STEM-related positions, compared to the national average in 2013.
