The Montour Falls Library is looking for Adult Volunteers (18+) to help with daily tasks and special events. If you love libraries then you've come to the right place!
Hours & Availability: We are seeking volunteers that are available for 2-3 hour shifts between 2pm and 5pm Monday-Friday, and/or available Saturdays until 1pm.
About the Library:
The library was built in 1864 and originally housed the Bank of Havana. It was converted into a library between 1893 and 1901. Most of the furniture is original to the building, as well as the sculptures, artwork, and architecture. We are located a block away from Shequaga Falls (Montour Falls) which proves to be a beautiful and bustling site year-round. The library is not only a place for books, but hosts a variety of programs and events, and makes other resources available.
Duties & Tasks:
We are looking for volunteers who are interested in maintaining the collection. Projects vary daily so you may get to do a variety of things. Cleaning, alphabetizing, organizing, and working on displays are common tasks. We will teach you how to use WorkFlows; this is the program we use to check books in and out for patrons. Please contact the library if you have specific interests or questions.
We require all potential volunteers to fill out an application. You can find this on our website at http://montourfallslibrary.org/about/volunteers/ or visit us in-person and speak to a staff member.
In respect for the comfort of staff and the many young children we see each day, we strongly recommend that, if able, our volunteers have the COVID-19 vaccination at this time. We understand that some may choose not to be inoculated for personal, religious, or health reasons.

Description
The Montour Falls Library offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of every member of our community. We offer adult and children literacy programs, genealogy resources, and public computer use with free wireless Internet access.

- Volunteers should be available for a 1-4 hour shift. We are flexible! Preference will be given to those who can volunteer between 2pm-5pm during the week or until 1pm on Saturdays.
- May be required to lift up to 25lbs.
