Help end the cycle of poverty in DC by joining the Adult Education teaching team at the YWCA!

We are looking for passionate, patient, and reliable volunteers with excellent computer and communication skills to teach a Basics of Computers and Intro to Word class to adult learners. These classes run from 12:30-2:45PM Monday-Thursday. The term starts on December 17 and runs through March 4. Volunteers who can commit to at least two days a week are preferred.

Prior experience teaching computers is a plus but not a requirement.

Participating as a Volunteer Instructor at the YWCA is a wonderful way to expand your personal skill set while reconnecting in a deep and meaningful way with the DC community. Participating also offers the rewards of watching your efforts translate into measurable results for the adult student community. Through participation, you will become part of a positive systemic change in the larger DC community, as success in this YWCA program leads to greater opportunities for sustained economic and social stability for our students and ongoing generations of their families.

Join us as we change the landscape of DC, one personal success at a time.

About YWCA National Capital Area

2303 14th Street NW, Suite 100, Washington DC, DC 20009, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the YWCA National Capital Area is to eliminate racism and empower women and their families with career education and training, health and wellness, and child and youth development programs that foster independence, economic stability, and overall well-being. Our vision is a community that reaches out to those in need, provides opportunities, cultivates healthy lifestyles, challenges social stereotypes, and values diversity and equality.

Founded in 1905, YWCA National Capital Area dismantles barriers faced by women, girls, and people of color as they work to develop and sustain healthy lives. Women and girls come to us in times of transition for job training and career counseling. They come for mission-based skill-building programs for their families. They come in times of crisis as survivors of rape or domestic violence.
