We are looking for valuable volunteers to spend time with our hospice patients, in their homes. The times are typically flexible. It would usually be for 1-2 hours every couple of weeks. Less or more, depending upon your availability and patient request. When spending time with hospice patients, there are many things that can be done. Usually, volunteers are needed when a family member/caregiver needs to leave the house to run errands. Sometimes, it involves spending time with a patient who is lonely or anxious, that lives in a skilled nursing facility or assisted living facility. When spending time with them, you can sit quietly reading a book, have a conversation with them, watch t.v. with them, write a life history for them, help the record family history, etc. Volunteers are not expected to help patients get to the bathroom, or do any other cares for them. It is simply to be a friend and spend time.
