Partners in Education is seeking volunteers for our Mentors in Toledo Schools program. The program works one on one with Kindergarten to Grade 3 students who are struggling with reading and writing. We need tutors in several schools but are especially interested in tutors for Arlington Elementary in Toledo Public and Queen of Apostles (a Toledo Diocesan school). We request one hour per week on the same day each week to provide a consistent and caring adult for each student. Lesson plans are given to us by the teachers.
Our program runs each school year through May and we are launching new schools in October 2019.
This is a data-driven, successful and rewarding program and a great experience for anyone who can devote an hour a week in the morning to helping students improve their reading skills. All ages 18 and up may apply. Training is provided. The schools require a background check be run on all volunteers. Partners in Education covers the cost of training and background checks.
