YOLA Volunteer (YOga and LAnguage)

YOLA (YOga and LAnguage) is a program created by Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center to improve literacy and teach mindfulness to children in preschool and grade school. Sessions pair development of language and early literacy skills with yoga movement to improve children’s balance, strength, flexibility, resilience and mindfulness while integrating specific language and literacy concepts. Each YOLA class is led by one of our expertly-trained Speech-Language Pathologists, who are also certified pediatric yoga instructors.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a weekly volunteer spot who will help our Speech-Language Pathologists with the students during the session as well as with set-up and breakdown of mats etc. Yoga experience is not required. Volunteers are needed at Renaissance West Steam Academy from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 3rd, 2019 until June 7th, 2019. Each YOLA session is 25 minutes with four sessions being held each day.
