Sign Language (ASL) Volunteer Interpreters Needed at Blood Drives

Use your fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to help Community Blood Center assist hearing-impaired donors who want to make the life-saving gift of a blood donation. We are currently seeking volunteers who are fluent in ASL to assist 2-4x/yr with translating/interpreting for hearing impaired donors at blood centers and mobile blood drives. Interpreters will help guide a donor throughout the entirety of the donation process and translate verbal information, as well as answer questions about written documents for the donor. Blood drive schedules vary and may take place on weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.

Training and orientation provided, An interview, background check and interpretive skill assessment will be conducted. Minimum age: 16. Volunteers asked to commit to at least 6 volunteer hours or a minimum of six months of service. Flexible scheduling available. AEIP certification a plus.
