Role Description:

The Sponsorship and Corporate Development Lead’s primary responsibility is to secure financial, in-kind, and mission support from new and returning Making Strides event sponsors and to ensure that all sponsors are appropriately recognized and thanked for their support. Work with ACS staff partner and ACS corporate relations team to approach medical, health and fitness oriented businesses, or other community oriented businesses and organizations for sponsorships. This person will need to lead the entire planning committee in exercises that produce relationship introductions for the purpose of soliciting for sponsorship.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop a sponsorship plan and strategy with your event staff partner following the appropriate sponsorship guidelines
  • Work with staff partner and committee members to compile a list of potential sponsors based on personal connections and relationships
  • Work with event staff partner and other American Cancer Society account management staff to build relationships with potential sponsors
  • Develop relationships with current or recurring event-level cash sponsors, team-level cash sponsors, and in-kind sponsors
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with new event-level cash sponsors, team-level cash sponsor, and in-kind sponsors
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain relationships with National Corporate Partner program members as appropriate
  • Manage Sponsor team needs and support in partnership with Team Development Chair.
  • Track contact information, contribution details, and recognition for donors
  • Partner with event staff partner and Logistics Chair to assure all sponsors receive any and all contracted benefits
  • Review sponsorship benchmarks on a monthly or bi-monthly basis with Event Chair and event staff partner to ensure goals are being met

Requirements:

Individuals in this role are comfortable representing the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer within the community and in the identification and recruitment of additional fundraising and sponsorship for the event. The most successful people in this role have a wide sphere of influence in the community and are comfortable doing presentations, negotiations and have strong listening and communication skills.
