ORGANIZATION: Asian Counseling and Referral Service

Teach ESL!
Help students in building a strong foundation and confidence in speaking English

Help students gain English language, literacy and digital literacy skills to improve career options and build confidence

Position Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00 - 12:00 P.M.. Number of volunteers needed: One volunteer for each class at two different locations.

Location: One class is held at ACRS and the other at Rainier Beach Library.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and ability to volunteer at least 3 hours per week.
  • Fluency in either Vietnamese or Cantonese.
  • Must complete a training with Literacy Source and meet with instructors. (https://www.literacysource.org/events).

Desired Skills: Experience working with low-intermediate ESL students.

Minimum Age Requirement: 18 Duration Requirement: 3 months/1 quarter

Assist in the Ready to Work class, providing direct support to students with limited English proficiency under the direction of the instructor. Class is taught by professional instructor. Learn more about teaching English!

ACRS is the largest multiservice organization serving all the different Asian Pacific American communities - immigrants, refugees and American born - in the Pacific Northwest.
