Volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic is an excellent way to serve our community while gaining invaluable life-saving experience. Purcellville Volunteer Rescue is a non-profit organization established to provide a variety of emergency services to the Town of Purcellville and surrounding area.

Description and duties:

Provides pre-hospital Emergency Medical Services. There are three levels of EMT certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and an additional certification for non-EMS providers. Volunteer members practice at all three levels.

These levels of training are:

  • EMT - (BLS level)
  • EMT - Intermediate (ALS)
  • EMT - Paramedic (Advanced ALS Level)

Skills and Qualifications:

Benefits:
Volunteers are eligible for benefits and some are based on a "point" system. Points are earned by performing a variety of activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 12
  • 12 hours a week minimum running calls. 6p-6a. Initial EMT (BLS level) of training is required to be on calls.
  • Pass a physical which is provided. Clear background checks. Complete EMS training which is provided.
