Volunteers come to The Old Tannery from all over the world. Some come for peace, some come for a free holiday, some come to see how we are building an eco-community. But whatever the motivation, they all seem to have fun whilst they are here!
Working here is simple, we assign you tasks to be completed during your stay according to your skill set, and ask for two hours of your time each day to do whatever we need to be done at that time. In return, we offer you free basic accommodation in The Little House at The Old Tannery in a gorgeously green location. The rest of your time is yours to enjoy as you please
Unlike many volunteer placements, we do not offer free food, so please be aware of this when making your arrangements to stay here (we wouldn’t want you going hungry!)

About The Old Tannery, France
Location:
chemin de la Tannerie, Montolieu, Aude 11170, FR
Mission Statement
Volunteer programme at The Old Tannery in south-west France. We are building and developing our eco-community and our permaculture vegatable and fruit garden.
Description
We are building a community of like-minded people who strive to live and work together peacefully, resolve conflict and enhance the environment, working with nature and natural resources. The solar panels and a windmill are planned to complete the energy project. Water from the river also irrigates the garden, so tasty fresh fruit and vegetables are coming along nicely! The design of the loft apartments puts into action our combined vision of the use of resources, with four composting toilets on site. Greywater will be used for flushing toilets.
