Kitty Cottage Adoption Center, Inc. is a no-kill shelter for rescued and surrendered cats and kittens in the Greater Philadelphia area. Our mission is to facilitate adoptions by housing the cats in a cage-free, home-like shelter where adopters and cats can interact and thus be matched up more effectively than if the cats were restricted to cages.

Education also plays a big part in our mission. We emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering to the many groups, including children, who visit our facility. We also assist people with trap/neuter/return activities for feral cats by lending them traps and recommending veterinarians who offer low-cost spay/neuter. Our goal is to minimize the amount of unwanted kittens born in the community. We also strive to increase the likelihood that owners will provide a lifetime of care to their cats by providing counseling on cat behaviors and behavior problems.

Kitty Cottage has found new homes for 3,000+ cats since our shelter opened in February 2002. There are approximately 20 to 40 cats in the shelter at any time.

While Kitty Cottage has one full time manager and several part time assistants, we depend primarily on volunteers to provide for the daily care and maintenance of the facility and its residents. We have approximately 60 hard-working volunteers who provide daily attention to the cats to socialize them and prepare them for loving homes. All of the cats are spayed and neutered, tested for FIV/FELV/HW, dewormed, micro-chipped and are up to date on shots.

We are happy to have created a community of our supporters who constantly donate both monetary funds as well as necessary items such as cat food, treats, litter and other items that the shelter uses on a daily basis. We are growing, and so are our needs for funds. We are looking for a dedicated volunteer (or volunteers) who would be the primary force behind our fundraisers that would ideally become community events. We are looking for someone who has experience throwing events, bonus if they have experience specifically with fundraisers.
