· Responsibility of overseeing the management and reporting of an organization’s finances

· The Treasurer may have many important duties specific to its role, including:

o Bank account maintenance - Signing checks and investing excess funds wisely

o Financial transaction oversight - Being knowledgeable about who has access to the organization’s funds, and any outstanding bills or debts owed, as well as developing systems for keeping cash flow manageable

o Bill Pay - Ensure that all business bills are paid on-time.

o Budgets - Developing the annual budget as well as comparing the actual revenues and expenses incurred against the budget

o Financial Policies - Overseeing the development and observation of the organization's financial policies

o Reports - Keeping the board regularly informed of key financial events, trends, concerns, and assessment of fiscal health in addition to completing required financial reporting forms (including taxes) in a timely fashion and making these forms available to the board

Mission Statement

Rahab’s Hope is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides individuals with temporary housing and employment services to pave the way from homelessness to self-sufficient living. We currently service the community by providing rental assistance and education based sessions.

Description

Our rental assistance program has supported individuals and families exit homelessness by providing financial assistance towards their security deposit and/or first month’s rent. Financial support has also been an aide to households that have fallen behind on their rent and face the threat of eviction and homelessness. Our volunteer Case Manager and Director work one-on-one with each applicant to ensure their ability to maintain housing. Once an applicant is approved for rental assistance, the Case Manager or Director will create a Housing Stability Plan and budget with the head of household. The Housing Stability Plan is used to identify housing, financial, health related and personal goals and outlines action steps to obtain such goals. Applicants are then required to complete at least one outlined action step prior to the release of financial support to their landlord. In regards to budgeting, we assist applicants with identifying practical ways of reducing their expenses and implement savings.

  • Board meetings occur every quarter for approximately 2 hours. Weekly finance related tasks may require 1 - 10 hrs/week depending on Rahab's Hope financial activities and board members are expected to participate in at least 1 fundraiser per year.
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in accounting, experience filing non-profit taxes (preferred), 5+ years of experience of financial mgmt., experience with non-profits is preferred
