Programs Director

Job Purpose:

Oversee the successful implementation of all of AZSA’s priorities and successfully support all priority leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Onboard and train new priority leaders (PLs), outlining responsibilities
  • Create or adjust training packet for PLs and Assistant PLs
  • Be available and accountable to PLs to answer questions, check in, etc.
  • Support PLs in the design of new project proposals
  • Review project proposals before they go to the Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director
  • Work with Assistant Executive Director to organize, oversee and prioritize all program activities
  • Step into role of PL or assistant PL as necessary if the position is a) vacant or b) the person is temporarily unavailable
  • Responsible for staffing PL and co-lead positions (including interviewing, onboarding, and determining if not a good fit). Also work with PL and co-leads to staff and train any needed project coordinators.
  • Work directly with the Assistant Executive Director to ensure that each priority is completing their goals
  • Ensure that for each priority:
    • All strategies are completed in a timely manner
    • A budget exists and is followed (Collaborate with Assistant Executive Director and Treasurer)
    • Has a clear method of evaluating success of projects
    • Creates a yearly project timeline
    • Proper procurement procedures are followed
    • Volunteer agreements are actualized
  • Collaborate with Organizational Director and Assistant Executive Director to ensure support needed for communications and funding of projects
  • Work with Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director to create new connections with organizations, companies, etc. to fully support projects
  • Is ultimately responsible for annual budgets for each priority
  • Ensure accountability of PLs and assistant PLs (have monthly meetings, etc.)
  • Train PLs and assistant PLs in program management, team management, and and other skills they may be in need of
  • Work with Assistant ED on cash flow
  • Work with the Assistant Executive Director and Organizational Director to strategize and problem solve as it relates to operations, communications, and volunteer management

Ideal Skill Set:

  • 3-5 years of management - both of people and projects
  • Project design
  • Project evaluation, survey design and implementation, etc.
  • Experience using project management software
  • Experience with budgeting
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well remotely
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to act in the best interest of the nonprofit

Time Commitment: Approximately 40 hours a week
