Like Roses? Interested in learning more about winter pruning? Come learn how the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden prunes the 3,500 rose bushes, for maximum bloom!
Many, many hands are needed for this annual event! Please bring a friend or your entire family! The more the merrier!
Please:
- Bring a filled water bottle.
- Wear closed-toe shoes.
- Dress in layers--it is chilly in the early morning and warm once you start gardening!
- Remember: roses are naturally thorny!
- This is outdoor volunteering--please wear clothing that can get a bit dirty!

The mission of the Volunteer Management Unit is to create and support opportunities for community participation, in partnership with staff, which support successful completion of projects and programs to enhance the maintenance of public parks and the delivery of services for the benefit of the public.

The City of San Jose Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services Division's Volunteer Management Unit serves the community by providing meaningful, safe and inspiring volunteer projects for those that enjoy the healthy benefits of environmental and community service.
