Job Description

International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) is a collective of like-minded people passionate about social injustice and the rights and needs of all, and is especially dedicated to the newcomer, the underprivileged, and the disadvantaged. We are deeply dedicated to broad strategies that strengthen the community, secure social justice, and enhance the well-being of our fellow human beings. Since 1914, IILA has supported families, rescued refugees, protected the vulnerable, and embraced the elderly. At IILA, we are all dedicated to a shared vision where we struggle for social policies that affirm all, include all, and provide opportunities for all. At IILA, we are involved in "impact efforts" into vehicles for deliberation, collaboration, and connection. We offer this opportunity because it will be integral to making a difference in the lives of those we serve, and in the lives of all of us engaged in that cause. We believe this position in an excellent opportunity to become familiar with and assist management of a 104 year-old multi-service social agency while making a direct and positive impact in the city of Los Angeles.

The development personnel position entails:

  • Working with the CEO, Board, and staff in supporting the work of IILA
  • Confabbing with those within IILA, and outside, in wrestling with what it really takes to make transformative change
  • Providing a wide range of support functions for the CEO, advocacy work, and fund development activity
  • Researching foundations and corporations to identify potential funding opportunities
  • Drafting proposals to request funding

Please note this position is flexible in that we will consider both part-time and full-time candidates. Some work may even be do-able from home. A full-time candidate will not necessarily be given preference over a part-time candidate as we prioritize searching for someone with the experience and passion to aid IILA in development activities.

Desired Skills and Experience

This position requires the following skills: Office Management, Administrative Support, Development Work, Networking, Database Administration, Event Planning / Management

Next Steps

If interested in this position, please send the following to Steve Voss (SVoss@iilosangeles.org) and Sharon Yen (Sharonyen217@gmail.com):

  • Resume, with relevant experience
  • Cover letter, expressing your desire to help IILA and Los Angeles as well as your preference of part-time or full-time

Thank you for your interest.
