Looking for group opportunities to bring and serve a dinner?
- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
As part of this essential service a hot and nutritious meal is offered each evening for the men and women in the shelter. These meals are in large part provided by generous community groups and organizations that want to give back to their less fortunate neighbors.
Where: Dwight Way Shelter, 2140 Dwight Way, Berkeley, 94704
When: Approximately 5:00pm-8:00pm, 7 days/week.
Note: This is an opportunity for groups only.
For this volunteer opportunity groups purchase and bring food for the meal, prepare it in our fully equipped kitchen for up to 75 shelter residents, and serve the men staying in the shelter that night, and clean up afterwards (the women are served on a separate floor - staff may permit members of the volunteer group to help serve at that). This generally happens between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, with the meal being served around 7:00pm. It’s perfect for about 5-8 people per group (more than 10 will not fit in the kitchen), and we highly encourage our volunteers to socialize with and get to know the men during the evening.
