ADVOCAP's RSVP Foster Grandparent Program is open to individuals age 55+ who want to commit at least 5 hours per week volunteering. Foster Grandparents serve as one to one tutors in (K-12) schools, Head Start centers as well as other community based sites. They will help the child develop academically and learn life skills important to their development and future success.

We provide training prior to matching you with a child and will continue required 4 hours of training each month to become you become a better volunteer.

We offer a tax-free hourly stipend to help cover costs for income eligible volunteers and mileage reimbursement. This stipend cannot be counted as income toward your eligibility for other services (ie: Medicaid, SSI, Food Share). The Volunteer will receive a supplemental accident and liability insurance while you volunteer.

We want to enable low-income people 55+ to gain more economic security, remain physically and mentally active and enhance their self esteem. And, we want to enable children with education needs as well as those falling significantly behind to strive for improved physical, mental, emotional and social development.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for individuals age 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers choose when, where and how long they would like to serve at schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while they serve. There is a pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
