Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary is seeking helping hands during weekday mornings from 7:30am to 11am! We are looking for horse lovers of all ages and capabilities to help us:

- Muck stalls
- Clean and refill water tubs
- Help turn horses out in the arena
- Wash feeders
- Replace bedding in stalls
- Rake up old hay out of aisles
- Feed horses
- Love our herd!

You will have the unique opportunity to be up close and personal with horses during your shifts! We encourage our volunteers to interact with our herd and are passionate about teaching everyone how to communicate with horses based on how they see the world.

Depending on your horse experience and comfort level, you'll also have the chance to:

- clean feet
- groom and hand walk some of the herd
- do gentle groundwork and/or lunge work some of the herd

No horse experience? Don’t worry! We’ll teach you, with our number one priority being to keep you safe and having fun at all times.

A little horse experience? Cool! We’ll work with you to build your confidence handling our herd members in the Tierra Madre way.

A lot of horse experience? Awesome! You'll continue to grow in your abilities at Tierra Madre and be able to handle more of the horses.

If desired, you will also have the opportunity to learn about:

- Basic horsemanship and training methods
- Equine diet and nutrition
- Farriery and hoof care
- Basic wound care and medical conditions such as summer sores, cellulitis, laminitis, colic, ulcers, and more
- The horse rescue industry and running a successful nonprofit horse ranch
