Gain valuable experience in the fields of community economic development and human services by participating in meaningful projects focused on strengthening Indiana’s communities.

The Indiana Assets and Opportunity Corps - AmeriCorps Fellowship Program is a statewide initiative of Prosperity Indiana that generates emerging leaders to effectuate comprehensive community impact that enhances economic and social opportunity in neighborhoods and communities. AmeriCorps Member-Fellows are paired with nonprofit agencies where they serve alongside dedicated professionals to build capacity, create impact, and increase financial capability among individuals and families.

AmeriCorps Member-Fellows will be placed at one of ten (10) service sites located throughout the state. The service sites are located in: Anderson, Bloomington, Hammond, Huntington, Indianapolis, Lafayette, and New Albany.

Positions commence on December 17, 2018 and conclude on or before August 31, 2019.

There are two types of positions available. The first is a reduced full-time position in which the candidate must complete a minimum of 1,200 hours (approximately 35 hours per week) to receive the Segal Education Award of $4,266.50. This award can be used to pay on student loans or towards college tuition. Reduced Full-Time Member-Fellows also earn a living allowance (stipend) of up to $9,500 over the course of their service payable in bi-weekly installments.

The second position is a half-time position in which the candidate must complete a minimum of 900 hours (approximately 25 hours per week) to receive the Segal Education Award of $3,047.50 at the conclusion of her/his term of service. This position is ideal for full- or part-time college students.

Member-Fellows in either position receive ongoing training and professional development.

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that works to improve lives and foster civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more.

Each IAOC service site has chosen one or more of the following program focus areas: financial capability, capacity building, outcomes measurement. Therefore, the goals and objectives associated with these focus areas varies from site to site. An IAOC AmeriCorps Member-Fellow's responsibilities and tasks are dependent upon the service site she/he chooses.

An applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Individuals who have earned, or who are in the process of earning, an associate's or bachelor's degree are preferred. The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to national and community service. Previous volunteer or leadership experience is a plus. Finally, the applicant should show a dedication to completing all service requirements identified by the program, have access to reliable transportation to/from assigned service site, and clear a National Sex Offender Public Registry and a criminal history background check.
