The Buffalo Museum of Science is looking for volunteers to help with our collections department. We are looking for people who would be willing to commit to a full day of bird specimen preparation (10 am-4:30 pm on Fridays). Their day would include identifications, examination for ecto/endoparasites, data recording, skinning and cleaning skins, preparing study skins, sexing the specimen, skeletonizing non-salvageable skins, etc. Volunteers cannot be squeamish around dead animals, blood, or guts. We are looking for birders-people who KNOW their birds.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit to a year or more of service. Since the training of specimen preparation can be time consuming.
If these seems to be of interest to you, please contact Stephanie Drzymala at volunteer@sciencebuff.org. Or call her at 716-896-5200 ex 309
