ORGANIZATION: Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

This internship offers an opportunity to work in the field of nutrition and food insecurity while learning about basic program coordination and working as part of a team. Interns will gain skills in community physical-activity-based nutrition education, program coordination, and lesson implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitation of established curricula program activities.
  • Planning and leading the program with other volunteers and interns - leading group discussions (for audiences 18-years and below) on topics of nutrition and physical activity.
  • Recording feedback about the Food Shuttle’s Community Health Education Programs.
  • Must have own transportation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability on Mondays and/or Wednesdays late afternoon (3-6:30pm).
  • Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal relations skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for connecting with diverse community members, be comfortable with public speaking, have strong organizational skills, good time-management, flexibility, and the ability to think on his/her feet.
  • Experience in education is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and the Spanish language is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience working with children and/or teens is helpful, but not required.

TIME COMMITTMENT: 2-6 hours per week. This internship is mid-May through mid-August.

COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid/volunteer internship.
