GLA volunteer tutors help adult students prepare for the GED, Career Readiness Assessment or literacy skills.
After observing classes and participating in an volunteer orientation/training workshop, tutors are matched with a small to mid-size group of students in a particular subject area. Some 1-on-1 opportunities may be available.
Tutor commitment is 1.5 hours a week/one day a week. The center offers classes in the mornings (Mon-Thurs 9:00am - 12:00pm) and evenings (Tues & Thurs 5:00pm - 8:00pm)
We have the following openings for our upcoming Spring Session (April 22nd-June 27th):
Social Studies: Mondays 9am-10:20am
GED Calculator Skills: Mondays 10:30am-12pm
Basic Math: Tuesdays 9am-10:20am
GED Math: Tuesdays 5pm-6:30pm
Job Skills/Employment Readiness: Wednesdays 9am-10:20am
Critical Thinking: Thursdays 9am-10:20am
Pre-GED Reading: Thursdays 10:30am-12pm
Critical Thinking: Thursdays 5pm-6:30pm
Workplace Reading: Thursdays 6:30pmpm-8pm
Substitutes: Morning and Evenings all subjects
