Position: Event Planning Volunteer

Organization: The Chrysalis Program

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Time Commitment: Flexible, Project-Based

Position Overview:

The Chrysalis Program is seeking creative and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Event Planning Volunteers. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the successful planning and execution of events that contribute to the empowerment of young girls and women. This position offers a unique opportunity to utilize your event planning skills to make a positive impact on our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Coordination:

    • Collaborate with the Event Planning Team to organize and execute events that align with the organization's mission.
    • Assist in developing event timelines, logistics, and contingency plans.
  2. Vendor and Venue Coordination:

    • Research and communicate with vendors, sponsors, and venues to secure necessary resources.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements for event services.
  3. Budget Management:

    • Work closely with the Finance Team to develop and manage event budgets.
    • Track expenses and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  4. Promotion and Marketing:

    • Assist in creating promotional materials and strategies to generate interest and attendance.
    • Utilize social media and other channels to market events effectively.
  5. On-Site Coordination:

    • Oversee on-site logistics during events, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants.
    • Coordinate with volunteers and staff to manage event flow.
  6. Post-Event Evaluation:

    • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare reports summarizing the success and challenges of each event.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Description

The Chrysalis Program seeks to reduce or eliminate the effects of childhood trauma for African American girls and their families on Chicago's South Side and beyond.

The Chrysalis Program creates safe spaces for girls to heal, learn and grow by offering Wellness Workshops, Counseling, Life Skill Classes, Creative Arts Lessons, Parent Classes, Enrichment Field Trips, Mentorship and Community Events.

​The Chrysalis Program is unique because it takes a holistic approach to empowering; teaching both life skills and coping skills that gradually improves the quality of life for participants and their families.
