Position: Volunteer Assistant Director

Organization: The Chrysalis Program

Location: CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

Time Commitment: 6-Month Term, 5-15 Hours per Week

Position Overview:

The Chrysalis Program is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to serve as a Volunteer Assistant Director for a 6-month term. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute leadership and strategic support to our organization, fostering the empowerment of young girls and women. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Executive Director to drive key initiatives and enhance the overall impact of The Chrysalis Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:

    • Collaborate with the Executive Director to contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans.
    • Provide input on organizational goals and objectives.
  2. Program Oversight:

    • Support program leaders in planning and executing various initiatives.
    • Assist in monitoring program effectiveness and impact.
  3. Team Leadership:

    • Supervise and support program leaders and volunteers.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  4. Community Engagement:

    • Represent The Chrysalis Program at community events and engage with stakeholders.
    • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with partners and supporters.
  5. Grant and Proposal Writing:

    • Assist in the development of grant proposals and fundraising initiatives.
    • Contribute to grant research and donor cultivation.
  6. Reporting and Analysis:

    • Generate reports on program outcomes and organizational performance.
    • Provide data-driven insights for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with youth empowerment programs and community development.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of The Chrysalis Program.

Description

The Chrysalis Program seeks to reduce or eliminate the effects of childhood trauma for African American girls and their families on Chicago's South Side and beyond.

The Chrysalis Program creates safe spaces for girls to heal, learn and grow by offering Wellness Workshops, Counseling, Life Skill Classes, Creative Arts Lessons, Parent Classes, Enrichment Field Trips, Mentorship and Community Events.

​The Chrysalis Program is unique because it takes a holistic approach to empowering; teaching both life skills and coping skills that gradually improves the quality of life for participants and their families.
