Position Title: Citizenship and Career Navigator Assistant Volunteer
Program: Education Services
We are excited to have launched a new initiative here at the IIIC, which will provide additional support to new Citizens, and immigrants on the path to U.S. Citizenship. As part of this initiative, we are are looking for energetic volunteers who would be excited to join our Education Services team, and at the prospect of working one on one on with these new Citizens to assist them with their Career Development. This will truly be a rewarding experience for both the volunteers and the clients receiving the help. This program is up and running so please apply ASAP if you are interested. Time Commitment: 5+ hours per week
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meet one-on-one with clients looking to begin or advance their careers
- Assist with job/training search
- Help create resumes and cover letters
- Prep clients for interviews
- Research opportunities for clients advancement in Boston and Greater Boston
- Prepare written updates for tracking progress
- Light administrative work
- Collaborate with community organizations on citizenship engagement opportunities
- Other assignments as needed
Skills/Qualifications:
- Advanced competency in job readiness and career advancement skills and practices
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications
- Highly organized
- Strong networking skills
- Commitment to helping immigrants, refugees, and new citizens advance and succeed economically, professionally, and personally

The Rian Immigrant Center works independently, and in partnership with other organizations to maximize our services for our clients, advocate for the rights of immigrants and change legislation (Comprehensive Immigration Reform) to enable immigrants to become permanent residents and US citizens. We run a number of cross-community, cross-border programs through our partners in Northern Ireland for young unemployed adults.
