EveryOne Home is Alameda County’s road map for ending homelessness. The result of a unique collaboration among community stakeholders, cities and Alameda County government agencies.

Locally known as "EveryOne Counts!", EveryOne Home convenes the "Point-In-Time Count" of individuals and families experiencing homelessness records the number of people staying in shelters, RVs, tents, and transitional housing on a given night in late January each year and estimates the number of people who are unsheltered, living outdoors on that same night every two years. Conducting a Count is a requirement of receiving federal homeless assistance funds. Most importantly, it gives our community useful and critical data for strategic, program, and policy and fiscal planning.

For the 2019 EveryOne Counts!, we need 500 volunteers that will work in teams to complete the visual count of unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness in every city throughout Alameda County. Two to three volunteers will be matched with a Guide (a person with current or recent experience of homelessness) to conduct a visual tally of homeless persons in a specific geographic area.Together, we can and will end homelessness in Alameda County.

Mission Statement

Ending homelessness in Alameda County, California.

Description

EveryOne Home envisions a system of care in Alameda County that by 2020, ensures all extremely low-income residents have a safe, supportive and permanent place to call home with services available to help them stay housed and improve the quality of their lives.

Imagine children sleeping in their own beds instead of in a frosty car, attending school, having hope for the future. Envision mentally ill persons recovering in an apartment, with neighbors and friends, rather than wandering the streets in isolation, talking to themselves. Think of an acutely ill person with AIDS being able to pay rent and purchase life-sustaining medication. For homeless people and low-income people living with HIV/AIDS and/or serious mental illness EveryOne Home has a Plan to make these dreams reality in communities throughout Alameda County.

This vision is ambitious...and possible. We are building a future in which there are sufficient resources, political leadership, and community involvement to erase homelessness as a permanent fixture in our social landscape.
