NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR SANTAPAWS
Dec 8, 15 & 16
from 1-4pm

We have a heap of fun each year as we take photos of pets with Santa at various Petco & Unleashed by Petco locations around NYC. Our Roadies (that's what we call our volunteers) help take photos, get the pet's attention, be festive & more. Looking for people to play Santa too! The costume is provided, you just need to bring cushions for the belly.

All funds raised help us make the holidays better for shelter pets by putting toys, treats, blankets, food and more into kennels. Want to help us?

Mission Statement

Did you know that between 6 - 8 million dogs and cats are surrendered to shelters every year in the US? Or that roughly half of those surrendered are euthanized? Research shows that distraction therapy can help... Rock & Rawhide aims to increase adoptions and quality of life for dogs and cats in shelters, by providing distraction therapy and noise/stress reduction through the donations of toys, tough chew items, Kongs, Nylabones, bones, rawhides, blankets and more. If a dog is chewing, it's not barking! If a cat is playing, it’s not meowing! Less noise = less stress. In turn, dogs and cats can pass their evaluations at shelters, and show more of their personality, making them more adoptable.

Description

Rock & Rawhide collects items through regular donations, music gigs, visual art shows, culinary events, DJ events, drop box programs, and more. We also promote shelters and give them tools to promote themselves in their local market.
