Position Overview and Impact:
The State of Arizona Research Library provides a multitude of digital resources for its patrons, from digital collection items, to the website, from research topics, to special collections. One of the goals of the Library is to have items from each collection digitized so that researchers can access the material from anywhere in Arizona and the world.
Key Projects:
- Scan boxes of materials for inclusion in the Arizona Memory Project.
- Scan materials for special in-house projects.
- Upload digitized items to the Arizona Memory Project.
- Assist with data cleanup in the Arizona Memory Project.
- Research topics and/or create social media and/or blog content for the State of Arizona Research Library.
- Research topics to be included on our Research Topics pages for use by teachers, students, and researchers.
Qualifications:
- Computer and keyboarding skills
- Careful attention to detail
- Interest in Arizona History
- Can work independently
- Familiarity with Adobe and Microsoft products is a plus
Staff Volunteer Contact: Brandy Helewa, Discovery Librarian
Training and Support Provided:
- Orientation to and a tour of the State of Arizona Research Library.
- Hands-on training for using 4 unique scanners
- Handling delicate materials.
- Assignment of best project for the volunteer.
- Inclusion in State of Arizona Research Library events.
Time Commitment: Minimum 2 to 3 hours per week
Length of Commitment: 6 months

Public libraries are positioned to engage this talent to extend their capacity in the community and to develop advocates and supporters of library services. The Get Involved Collaborative comprises libraries from California, Idaho, Arizona and Texas.
