BikeAAA will provide free helmets to children who will also receive free bikes as part of the Bykes 2 Tykes program. Volunteers will help fit helmets on the children as they receive their bikes. The bike and helmet distribution will be outdoors under cover so dress appropriately. No special skills are required, just a love of bikes and kids! Picture from the 2017 outing.

Mission Statement

We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit focused on creating a healthier, more livable Annapolis and Anne Arundel County by promoting safe bicycling for transportation, recreation and fitness.

Description

We represent more than 1,000 members, the voice for thousands of cyclists and advocate for better bicycling conditions and transportation choices; and educate children, adults, and motorists about safe bicycling. BikeAAA launched in 2013 as a project of the Leadership Anne Arundel program and has since grown to become the voice for safe cycling. We have provided hundreds of bike helmets to underprivileged children, safety education, and advocacy at the city of Annapolis, county, state and federal level. We are the catalyst that led to the county Bicycle Advisory Commission, fulltime Bike/Ped Planner, new legislation and record-levels of trail building and bike lanes. We partner with the county to provide the award-winning Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100 Bicycle Event (www.lifeline100.com). Our Wheels of Hope program (https://bikeaaa.org/wheels-of-hope-refurbished-bikes/) collects gently used bikes and refurbishes them for people in need such as those in recovery and low income children.
