JMac at Concessions Stands w/ BOH Volunteers

We are a grass root CDC nonprofit in the Acres Homes Community. Our pilot program is an Out of School Time Program for low income, at risk middle and high school youths with College/Job Skills to Completion. Our 1st grant was with the H. E. Butt Family Foundation Camp in Leaky, Texas, they provide us with a beautiful camp 170 bed facility and we are responsible for food, transportation, and programming. The first year we provide the exceptional experience for 50 youths and their immediate family at no cost to them. This year we were able to provide the same experience for 102 youths and their immediate families. Our next schedule camp is Labor Day 2019 and we want to fill the camp with 150 youths and their families. We provide this camp for our families by working the concession stands at the Rockets games and other local events. We have signed a contract to bring 10 volunteers at every game and event. We need committed volunteers to work to help us earn the $15,000 price tag on our camp. We provide incentives, community service hours and gift cards as awards, TABC Certificates and Texas Food Handlers ( in which will help you get a job at many other locations). Check out our website www.byourhands.com/sponsorship for pictures of the beautiful camp grounds and the last two trips of families! Our greatest joy were the single parent mother with 6 children(ages 6 to 15 years) and the married couple with 8 children (ages 6 months to 14 years), whom participated this year seeing things they could not imagine with all their children for free!!! They are why we do this!!

Description

As a new organization we began with our Out of School Time Program for low-income, at-risk Middle and High School youths with College to Completion. As going into our second year decided to include families with the youth to create lasting bonds that can help bridge the gap of the educational years into adulthood of each youth that are apart of us. Our 1st grant was with H. E. Butt Foundation Camp in Leaky, Texas. They granted us a 170-bed facility for a 4-day weekend to perform a camp. This is value over $25,000. We are responsible for food, programming and transportation for our camp. Our 1st year, Mother Nature intervened and Hurricane Harvey hit the weekend we were to go, so the foundation graciously gave us the 1st weekend of October and we provided this camp for 50 youth and their families for free. This grant is ongoing, as long as we can plan it!!! So this year we went again and 102 youth and their families! It was amazing! Our next camp is Labor Day weekend 2019. We are excited about the goals of bringing 150 youths and their family members!! We work the concession stands of the Rocket games and other concerts, events, along with support from the public, in order to provide these camps for free to the participants!! These camps provide these troubled youth an opportunity to create new bonds with their family and community outside of the classrooms and home. These bonds can provide much need support during the educational years into adulthood.
