Special Olympics in Asheville, North Carolina is seeking a Clinical Director, Healthy Athletes "Health Promotion" to join the Health Promotion team. Special Olympics NC needs qualified medical professionals to assist with the organization of Healthy Athletes screening events. Certificate and current license as a health professional (i.e. RD, CHES, RN, MD, DO, PA, NP) is needed to volunteer.
Health Promotion, a discipline of Special Olympics Healthy Athletes, focuses on healthy living, lifestyle choices, and nation-specific health issues. In addition, Health Promotion offers screenings for bone density, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). Its goals include encouraging and enhancing healthy behaviors and improving self-efficacy and self-advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the local Special Olympic program to coordinate a screening event in the Asheville region.
- Recruit and train volunteer health professionals.
- Use Healthy Athletes Software (HAS) to document athletes' health status and needs during screenings.
