Are you a licensed Podiatrist or other licensed health care provider? Would you like to assist Special Olympic athletes in receiving health screenings? We need your help.

Special Olympics in Asheville, NC in Buncombe County is seeking a Clinical Director for Healthy Athletes "Fit Feet" to join the Fit Feet team. Special Olympics NC needs qualified medical professionals to assist with the organization of Healthy Athletes screening events. Certificate and current licensure as a Podiatrist or other licensed health care providers is needed to volunteer.

Special Olympics Fit Feet offers podiatry screenings to evaluate ankles, feet, lower extremity biomechanics, and proper shoe and sock gear to participating athletes. Many athletes suffer from foot and ankle pain, or deformities that impair their performance. During Fit Feet events, volunteer podiatrists work with athletes to evaluate problems, document health status and offer solutions to treat conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the local Special Olympic program to coordinate a screening event in the Asheville region.
  • Recruit and train volunteer health professionals.
  • Use Healthy Athletes Software (HAS) to document athletes' health status and needs during screenings.
