We Are From The Earth(WAFTE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage people to cultivate their compassion and live a socially conscious lifestyle.

Our mission is to empower people to cultivate compassion and live a socially conscious lifestyle. We are creating a peace movement rooted in each person's inner heart and behavioral transformation. We advocate a "Socially Conscious Lifestyle" that is rooted in compassion. The four attributes of this lifestyle are:

1) Treat yourself and others with compassion

2) Choose socially conscious consumption

3) Apply social consciousness to your work

4) Get active to solve global issues.

Since its founding, WAFTE conducted community events, workshops, live music to spread a socially conscious lifestyle in the Los Angeles area.

In order to maximize our impact, since October in 2019, WAFTE has shifted our platform to a technology. Currently, we have been developing the "WAFTE APP", a mobile application that empowers people to choose a socially conscious lifestyle that leads to their personal happiness as well as positive global change.

Position: Grant Writer

Purpose: Prepare grant proposals and search for funding sources to secure funding for WAFTE's ongoing operational expenses and special projects.

Location: This is a virtual volunteer opportunity so you can work from home while communicating with us through phone/video conferences and emails.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform research into grant making (funding) organizations
• Write applications that display meticulous grammar and spelling
• Adhere to guidelines given by the organizer or project leader
• Analyze the feasibility of the project’s budget
• Writer will have to interview people in our organization and perform comprehensive research to complete the project given
• The grant writer must have complete understanding of the program being funded
• When the proposal is done, the grant writer will keep in contact with the funding organization to check the progress
• If requested the grant writer will have to submit progress reports to the funding organizations

Time Commitment: Hours will fluctuate based on the funding requirements of the projects planned. The average time commitment will be 8 to 10 hours per week.

Qualifications: Excellent grammar and strong research skills are a must. Good organizational skills in order to keep careful records and track progress of proposals. Must have basic computer skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Prior grant writing experience or a bachelor's degree in communications, English, professional writing or a similar major would be a definite plus.
