Hamilton Sign - Summer

Hamilton Elementary is looking for coach and head coach volunteers for the Spring session of Girls on the Run (GOTR). RUNNING IS NOT REQUIRED... Practice will be held 2 days a week from 4:15-5:35 PM March through June at Hamilton Elementary (the days will be either Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays and Wednesdays, this is TBD. Your availability would be taken into consideration!). Training, curriculum, and most supplies are FREE and provided. The season culminates in a celebratory 5K in early June. Hamilton girls have LOVED this program and we want to keep it going. In the past Hamilton teachers have been the head coaches, and we have had 2 teams of 20 3rd-5th grade girls with a waiting list (each team has 1 head coach and 2-3 additional coaches). Hamilton teachers would like to get the families and community around Hamilton more involved in our program. We are looking to pass the head coach roles on to other people, but would be happy to continue supporting the program as coaches, site liaisons and just experienced resources. Please note: You only run as much as you want to at GOTR, our motto is "as long as you're moving forward."

HEAD coaches must be female, BUT other coaches can be male or female.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Head coach must be a woman
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • CPR and First Aid certified (GOTR offers courses)
  • Must consent to and complete a background check
  • Attend Girls on the Run coach training (in Feb. or March)
  • Attend all (two) practices per week for a weekly time commitment of approximately 4 hours (life happens and you might have to miss a practice or 2, that's okay)
  • Have fun!
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a role model for program participants
  • Prepare, organize and supervise weekly lessons
  • Collaborate with other coaches for successful lesson delivery
  • Facilitate communication with parents/guardians of program participants
  • Participate in the Girls on the Run 5K
  • Plan and coordinate your team’s end of season party
Please reach out to Mrs. Canfield ( brianna.canfield@ahschools.us ), Mrs. Ringwelski ( Amber.Ringwelski@ahschools.us ), Mrs. Keith ( Megan.Keith@ahschools.us), or Mrs. Dokter ( Daphne.Dokter@ahschools.us) if you are interested in coaching our girls this Spring. More information about coaching can be found at: https://www.gotrtwincities. org/Coach (the site has not been updated for Spring 2019 yet, but the information is still useful) Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this! Please let us know if you are interested. We would love to talk with you more about it!

Description

Hamilton Elementary School is located in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The school was built and opened in the fall of 1965. Hamilton was built adjacent to the original "Camp Guy Robinson." It was originally built to provide instruction for K-6 students.
The Hamilton enrollment area, as well as the entire city of Coon Rapids, has undergone many changes over the years. The addition of Highway 10, coupled with a new mall district and new home construction has changed Hamilton into a neighborhood school. Hamilton enrollment averages about 450 students for Kindergarten to Grade 5.
