The work is to identify, develop, and utilize opportunities to publicize the critical need below, and create viable useful linkages.

Mission: To enable marginalized students along with others to share equitably in resources and knowledge to achieve their full potential. (COVID-19 has worsened conditions.)

Project: Building alliances for facilitating highly valued smaller focused interaction groups (FIGs)

An unfilled need: K-12 collaborative group conversations to increase speaking, listening and diverse skill objectives are highlighted in curriculum throughout the United States. However, the collaborative conversations are not happening due to a lack of assistants to conduct groups (FIGs) small enough for students to be involved.

A solution: Older and younger adults can be trained as staff/ volunteer facilitators by community colleges who would be strong allies for implementation. There can be many generational exchanges (Boom Gen to Gen Z inclusive) in their facilitator learning support groups as they enable communication and connection between diverse students.
