The Golden Strip Learning Center is in need of volunteer tutors to help the international members of Simpsonville learn English as a Second Language.
All of our tutors attend a training workshop to prepare and excite them to teach these eager students.
Our students are divided into their appropriate level of English and tutors teach level appropriate materials. Tutors help with new vocabulary, conversation skills, and phrases.
Our center offers morning classes from 9-10:30am and evening classes from 6:30-8:00pm.

Mission Statement
Greenville Literacy Association’s mission is to enrich our community by increasing the literacy and employability of our citizens.
Description
GLA was founded more than fifty years ago when a group of community leaders realized that there had to be solutions to the problem of adult under-education. Today the Association is one of the largest community-based literacy programs in South Carolina and one of the most highly developed in the nation. Hundreds of trained volunteer tutors and small group instructors are active in the agency's programs, literally changing lives in a very positive way. GLA serves the community through two earning centers in Greenville and Simpsonville, and through partnerships in Greer, West Greenville and the Berea area.
